Hastings’ Acme Cafe Sold, Will Close November 28

Acme Cafe in the Paris Block building at 51 West Hastings has been sold and will close in less than two weeks. Here’s the statement from owners Alan & Peggy Hoffman:

To our amazing regulars and supporters,

It is with very mixed feelings that we announce that Acme has been sold. The new owner will be opening with a new concept and Acme will be closing its doors, with November 28th being our last day.

It has been the adventure of a lifetime and we wouldn’t change a thing, but now it’s time for us to start a new chapter. We will miss working with our incredible staff, visiting with our regulars, and all the out-of-towners who always came in to say hi, more than we can possibly say. You have become friends and family.

We have learned and loved, and lost (our minds a little) along this windy path, and to those that have supported us, we extend our sincerest gratitude. We will treasure this experience for all our lives, and we will miss you all.

We wish you all the best, and hope you have a chance to come in and say bye. Thank you for making us a little part of your lives. If you wish to stay in touch, we’re on Instagram @helmsalee.online. The sea is calling…

Best,

Alan and Peggy

I really hope they find their way back into the restaurant business because they were earnest and experienced, plus they really gave a damn about quality and their customers. I wish them and their staff the very best of luck moving forward.

Here are some shots we took and a video we made from when they were under construction back in April of 2010.

    1. Agreed! Loved their club sandwiches, and of course, their pies & cakes were to die for. They will be missed!

    2. It’d be amazing if their next venture was a pie shop. Always loved their selections.

    3. Gutted, I have lauded this as the best brunch in town since the opened. I adore Acme and will miss it 🙁
