Free Spirit is Back for a Second Round, December 8th Only!

Whether you’re stocking up for the holiday season – or are looking to get a jumpstart on the post-holiday festivities recovery period – OR, you are simply harbouring a general curiosity for all things local F&B-related, the ‘Free Spirit’ event on Monday, December 8th has got you covered.

After a sensational inaugural event back in January, organizer Kurtis Kolt (sommelier and notably also co-founder of Top Drop wine festival) is bringing back the singular tasting event for its second round next month. Once again, attendees can expect all manner of ‘non-alc’, ‘zero-proof’ and ‘alcohol-free’ beverages – everything from wine and beer, to cider, sparkling teas and handcrafted sodas, plus aperitifs and mixed cocktails. Except this time around, there will be a lot more of it! Over four-dozen producers are included in this Free Spirit roster, from BC and further afield, including Calgary, Montreal, Nova Scotia, Toronto, Denmark, France, Germany, England, Italy, Jamaica – and the list goes on…

Also of note: A nice variety of the beverages served at the tasting event will also be available to purchase from the on-site pop-up bottle shop, courtesy of Mocktails Alcohol Free Liquor Store. Which is basically the perfect set-up for sorting yourself out with a nice liquor cabinet full of non-alc options to get you through the impending holiday party season, and, a little forethought, motivation, and a bit of an investment, even into ‘Dry January’ (and beyond?). It’s also just nice to have something you actually like to drink on-hand for when you want a break from the ‘real’ stuff.

Free Spirit goes down Monday, December 8th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Admission is $48 each (plus tax and fees) and that covers all of your tastings (and zero hangover on Tuesday, natch). Past precedent has us convinced that they will sell out in advance, so don’t mull on it for too long! Snag your ticket here while you still can.
