Remembering The Build At Hastings’ Au Petit Chavignol And Les Amis Du Fromage

aupetit

These photos date back over six years to the winter of 2009, which is when Scout broke the news of the side-by-side comings of Au Petit Chavignol and Les Amis du Fromage to East Hastings. Though the former closed a couple of years ago, we still have fond memories of its fabulous fondues, raclette, and especially its burger, which we rated as the best in town (double-smoked bacon and Leerdammer cheese will do that). The latter, of course, remains a neighbourhood fixture. The pictures show just how big of a build it was. Golly, what a job. Take a look…

These photos were taken the night of the Japanese-Italian inspired restaurant's first friends and family service in late April, 2016.

Five Years Ago in East Van, Patiently Awaiting the Arrival of Really Good Pie

The new Pie Shoppe address allowed for more room and natural light, not to mention the ability to actually seat guests.

Five Years Ago Today, Inside the Beginnings of Nightingale Restaurant

I remember being floored by the sheer size of the project, which loomed more like a cathedral ruin than a restaurant.
