by Andrew Morrison | The next cool thing is fog. It’s not a common occurrence in Vancouver, so whenever it rolls in – and it can roll in thick – it’s more magical than it is a nuisance. The especially awesome thing about Vancouver’s fog is that it’s so damn picturesque, regardless of where it hangs cool, wet, and cold. It doesn’t matter if it’s blanketing an open green space like Brockton Oval or MacLean Park, or haunting the empty streets of Chinatown at dawn and giving every light – passing or static – a special, eerie glow, no matter the colour. It’s just pretty, whatever it wears. Want to be extra prepared for it? Try to think of where fog would show best in your community. A school field? An intersection? Out front of a dilapidated storefront? Make a plan. Then, whenever the weather report says those magic words – “dense fog advisory” – you just grab your camera and book it to wherever you’ve smartly pre-determined.
