Soundtrack #88 Icelandic Joy

Iceland. Their economy is in ruins and they’re sitting on one of the world’s most terrifying geological features, a miles-long pipe of magma that can blow at any moment, turning the entire island into a trillion shards of sad inevitability. They’re also caught astride the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the dividing line of perpetual terror that splits the North American Plate from the Eurasian. I’m telling you, its tectonic chakras are wacked.

It’s a mystery as to how this place consistently produces such happy musicians. Witness one Emiliana Torrini. This track below, from her album Me and Armini, is called “Big Jumps”. Enjoy.
