We Want This Badass Calette Custom Bike

Screenshot of the Redline 925 from Calette Customs.

We’re a pretty satisfied bunch, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t covetous. Sometimes we see things out there that we just must have. Cool Things We Want is an archive of those earthly desires.

Cycling is no drag in the summertime, especially when it’s between breweries or to the beach and back. It would be even more fun if we were pedalling in style astride a tricked out ride from Calette Customs, the bike building business of former BMX pro Steve Calette. These days, Calette is channeling some of his love for the sport into fashioning sick BMX-inspired bicycles out of vintage, out-of-production and retro classic parts that he personally hunts down and sources.

The gorgeous Redline 925 (pictured above) is one of two ready-to-ride models currently hanging out in the window display at Eugene Choo on Main Street. More about this red-hot beauty can be found here, including its personal backstory, a decent dose of BMX history, and the specs for every single part. There are also nearly a dozen close up shots with captions (complete with technical details and personal thoughts), but I recommend getting your peepers up close with the 3D version while you still can.

Ringing in at $3,500, the window display may be as close as we ever get to it, but this bike will definitely be cycling through our dreams long after summer ends.
