Vancouver Would Be Cooler If it Had a Museum of Rocks That Look Like Faces

When I was a kid I found a fist-sized rock that was – to my young eyes – the spitting image of Winston Churchill. I’ve thought of it every time I’ve picked up a rock that resembled a human face. Sadly, I lost track of it in my teenage years, and while there’s a part of me that likes to think it found its way to this little museum in Japan, I would have much preferred to have donated it to a similar institution closer to home, one with a public collection of rocks found right here in BC. From Great Big Story:

If you’re ever in Japan, consider a trip to Chineskikan, located two hours outside Tokyo in the city of Chichibu. The peculiar museum is the only one of its kind, dedicated entirely to rocks that look like human faces. Owned and operated by Yoshiko Hayama, Chineskikan is home to some of the most spectacular stones nature has to offer, with rocks that resemble everyone from Elvis Presley to E.T. Following in her father’s footsteps, Hayama is preserving the legacy of “jinmenseki,” continuing the search for rocks that resemble human faces.

Vancouver (and the World) Would be Cooler If Our Housing Crisis Was Solved Via Video Games

There is nothing special about Vancouver's lack of affordable housing...but what is special about Dublin, Ireland’s housing crisis, is that it's the catalyst and subject matter of a new 16-bit "anti-landlordist" video game, called Mega Dreoilín.

Vancouver Would Be Cooler If We Had More Safe Indoor Spaces for Skateboarding

Its vaulted ceilings may have once carried the tenors and altos of Catholic choirboys, but nowadays the acoustics of the abandoned St. Liborius Church have been repurposed to carry the screeches and echoes characteristic of a DIY Skatepark. We think Vancouver would be cooler if we had an all-inclusive indoor community skatepark of our own...

Vancouver Would Be Cooler If It Had a Massive Floating Housing Project at the Port

Imagine a colourful, mixed-used, housing complex like Amsterdam's Silodam floating at the foot of Victoria Drive.
