3 (Three) Vets | Store | An iconic retailer – one of the first discount stores in the city – selling military surplus and outdoor gear to Vancouverites. Started by World War II veteran Bill Wolfman, his brother Joe and a friend (also vets), it originally opened in the Hogan’s Alley neighbourhood in 1947 (where Strathcona meets Chinatown at Prior and Main). In 1968 it moved to its current location at 6th and Yukon and is currently run by sons Jerry and Keith Wolfman. Sadly, it was announced in April 2017 that 3 Vets will close forever in November 2017.
Usage | “How are we going to prepare for the zombie apocalypse now that the 3 Vets is closing?”
