Tickets for Inform Interior’s ‘Japan Handmade’ Workshops Now Available

The second edition of Japan Handmade, the collaborative series between Inform Interiors and a small number of Kyoto-based craftspeople, is happening June 6 – 8 at the Gastown showroom. The four artisans making the journey to Vancouver for this year’s event are Takahiro Yagi, Shuji Nakagawa, Toru Tsuji and Kenya Imanishi. All of the participants are currently working in a wide range of materials and crafts that bridge Japanese ancestral traditions and forward-thinking design: metal tea caddies, wire weaving, wooden vessels and confectionary.

The full line-up will be sharing their ideas about the intersection of past and future in their respective practices when Japan Handmade kicks off during a free public discussion from 5 – 7pm on June 6th. The following Friday and Saturday (June 7/8), they will be offering intimate, hands-on workshops in three 90 minute slots each day from 10:30am to 5:30pm. There are only ten spots available per time slot.

With tickets ringing in at $70 per person, the cost seems small compared to the opportunity’s rarity and the short cut granted to generations of knowledge from some amazing first-hand resources. This is especially since there’s no plane ticket required. It’s no wonder that last year’s inaugural event sold out before we could help get the word out! Get your tickets here without delay.
