Restaurant Porn is a regular column of daydreams presented as a means to introduce Vancouver diners and designers to concepts, looks, and fully-formed ideas that they might draw an inkling of inspiration from. We do our best to pair the foreign rooms with local addresses so as to let everyone in on the daydream.

(via) The idea of doing anything other than eating and drinking in a restaurant is a little odd to us. Watching an entire hockey or baseball game in an establishment was about as far as we would normally go with breaking the natural rhythms of a meal. Beyond that was a Chuck E. Cheese wilderness. Alas, perhaps not…
What it is: High Rollers, a voluminous restaurant and beer hall that mixes the sport of bowling with pizza and beer. A cool concept, and the branding for it – by Vancouver company Glasfurd & Walker (see also Savio Volpe, Kissa Tanto, Botanist, etc.) – is pitch perfect.
“Named ‘High Rollers’ for its position amongst the Rocky Mountains it claims it’s stake as ‘highest bowling alley in Canada’. It’s a place to hang up your skis, skates, hiking boots and come make a few new friends. The identity is built around a mascot – bowling babe – a nod to 1950s bowling culture and pin-ups which compliments the retro-inspired interior design.”
Where it is: 110 Banff Avenue in Banff, Alberta. Far enough to be flattered by something similar.
Where we wish it was: In a large warehouse space near Powell Street and Commercial Drive.
Why we wish it was there: Proximity to other breweries. Safe distance to bar crawl crowds.
