Vancouver Urban Farming Society Set To Hold Workshop On Aeroponics, July 21

Harvest Urban Farms VUFS_poster

Strathcona’s very own Harvest Urban Farm is upping the anti in Vancouver’s sustainable farming game by growing over 500 pounds of goodness a week without the use of any soil…in a warehouse! Get the full lowdown on what they’re up to by heading to East Cordova this Thursday for a workshop on aeroponics.

950 E Cordova is now home to a thriving indoor aeroponics facility, growing fresh leafy greens for local restaurants and markets. Check out this innovative indoor farm that uses carbon neutral aeroponic growing units, energy efficient LEDs, & pesticide-free growing methods. Meet the owners of one of Vancouver’s newest urban farms . Have fun & learn first hand about a plant-cultivation technique called aeroponics and enjoy harveting and tasting leafy greens.

About Harvest Urban Farms | We are a team of farmers growing fresh produce in a warehouse in Strathcona. We grow using aeroponics and sustainable, organic practices. We sell to restaurants and markets within a 10km radius of our farm. We believe produce tastes better when it’s delivered the same day it’s picked.

Vancouver Urban Farming Society (VUFS) | Our vision is to grow the urban farming sector in Vancouver and beyond.  We share resources, convene thought leaders, and provide advocacy, education and business support to both urban farmers and the farm-curious. To learn how we seek to strengthen the urban farming community, and ways to contribute visit us at www.urbanfarmers.ca.

Expect a farm tour, some hands-on harvesting and a taste of soil-free deliciousness. Imagine the impact this could have on urban farming in the future and get on the bandwagon early!

Thursday, July 21st | 5pm | Harvest Urban Farms, 950 East Cordova | $5 | DETAILS
