Fun, Irreverent Southern BBQ Longtable Dinner Goes Down This Sunday

Aldergrove’s Fraser Common Farm is gearing up to welcome Chef Doug Stephen of Merchant’s Workshop for a ridiculously tasty Southern BBQ Longtable dinner this Sunday (August 19), in conjunction with the DownLow Chicken Shack.

The menu is a smorgasbord of locally-sourced and pasture-raised meats and poultry, including a roasted hog from Brian Geisbrecht and chicken from neighbours K & M Farms, all rounded out by produce from Glorious Organics. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Southern-style supper without pie for dessert, and it’s coming courtesy of the rad ladies of The Pie Shoppe. Oh, and booze, lots of booze. Diners can expect beer from Brassneck and a custom cocktail of Wild Turkey bourbon with Dickie’s Ginger Beer. Yum!

You’ll definitely want to knock back a few of the latter, as the Longtable dinner will also mark Merchant’s Workshop’s final affiliated dinner. It falls on the heels of their ‘Last Supper Series’ which concludes on Thursday, August 16th, after which the Commercial Drive restaurant’s doors will be permanently shut. (See what’s next for the address here)

In addition to appetizers, drinks and the full BBQ feast, included in the event ticket price ($110 per person) is a tour of the farm and live entertainment via the country-style sounds of the band, Forager. The full farm shindig goes down from 4pm to 8pm.

I predict one helluva joyous occasion and the perfect send off to both the summertime and one of The Drive’s most delicious establishments. Get ready to get loose by snagging your tickets to this event here.
