Chef Raf Racela is Cooking at Livia for Four Friday Nights Only, Beginning Sept. 19th

True, summer is nearly over, taking those long days spent lazing on the beach, and extended nights eating, drinking and people-watching on the patio with it…Luckily, Livia on Commercial is making the segue into Fall a bit easier with their new month-long series of Friday pop-up dinners, featuring Chef Raf Racela.

Racela – previously Head Chef at ¿Cómo? Taperia and known for his Filipino food project, Tayo – is back in action. It’s been a while since Tayo popped up around town, so if you’ve been missing his cooking, you’ll want to block off at least one of the next four Fridays. Starting at 5:30pm from September 19 through October 10, Livia’s kitchen will trade its usual homestyle Italian for a run of modern Filipino flavours under Racela’s lead.

This is a walk-in-only situation, so if you’re aiming for a leisurely evening meal – and not a long wait in line – then plan on making a bee-line from work to 1399 Commercial Drive (or starting your weekend early). Here’s a rundown of this week’s menu to help light a fire under your butt:

Livia Toast – $6
Maggi seasoning butter

Yellowfin Tuna – $22
orange, togarashi xo, fried ginger

Green Salad – $16
feta ranch, pumpkin seed brittle

Orrechiette Carbonara – $26
Chinese sausage, Pecorino

Dry Aged Beef Burger – $28
Valdeon blue cheese, bacon onion jam, Livia potato bun

Iberico Pork Chop – $43
mango Esplette sauce, arugula and onion salad

Dry Aged Striploin – $65
anchovy brown butter, scallions, cilantro, lemon

Kaffir Lime and Vanilla Panna Cotta – $12
