‘Japanese Salaryman’ Pop-Up To Bring Juno Kim, Whisky, Karaoke To Gastown

tipsy

This just in – our buddies Lizzy Karp and Ken Tsui of HereThere are hooking up with nomadic chef and all-around good guy Juno Kim to bring Vancouverites a cool option for blowing off some steam next Friday (March 4). The especially unique thing about the night of eating, drinking and singing is that it’s being presented as an homage to the hard-working Japanese Salaryman.

The Tipsy Salaryman sees the trio take over the Birds & The Beets space (55 Powell St.) in Gastown to create a Japanese coffee shop (kissaten) complete with karaoke, juicy schnitzel (katsu) sandwiches, fluffy octopus balls (takoyaki) and Nikka whiskey sodas (liquid courage to hop on the mic for a song). No tickets or reservations necessary – this is walk-in only gig. Sounds like a pretty rad way to end a long work week if you ask us! Tanoshimou ne!

Smell that? BBQ season is fast approaching, and the team behind Basta BBQ are primed to get grilling ASAP!

Hit East Van for the 2nd Annual Vancouver Brewers Fest, April 19-28th

Since a single person (and liver) can only handle so many beers and beer-drinking celebrations, some prioritizing is in order. Topping off our list of events is the imminent (and, in our opinion, non-negotiable) Vancouver Brewers Fest.
