We Want This Graphic, Hand-Tufted Statement Rug by Local Artisan Julia Mior

We’re a pretty satisfied bunch, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t covetous. Sometimes we see things out there that we just must have. This is an archive of those earthly desires. During the holiday season, the Cool Things We Want column goes into overdrive, so keep checking back for more gift ideas.

The lust is strong for Julia Mior‘s graphic, hand-tufted Talamone rug, made from 100% New Zealand wool. A statement area rug is a luxury that I’ve long yearned for but haven’t acquired due to reasons both financial and feline (my cat has a penchant for strategically upheaving hairballs on my priciest possessions). The light colour and hefty price tag ($3,900 CAD) of Mior’s masterpiece mean attainment is pretty much impossible for me personally, but practical aspiration has never been this column’s strong suit!
