Russell Foods Building | Historical Building | A massive, Moderne-style warehouse on the corner of Venables and Clark Drive in Strathcona. Built circa 1937, the building was originally home to Hammond Furniture, which launched some 19 years previous (though they don’t appear on the corner until 1929). Hammond, whose signature designs can still be found in antique furniture shops around town, also owned the space across the street for a time (now home to Mr. Mattress). Decades later the main building was bought by Russell Food Equipment and has operated as an office for the company and its subsidiary, Quest Metal Works, ever since.
Usage | “Man, you would think the iconic Russell Foods Building would be designated as a heritage site by now.”
