Oberlander, Cornelia | Figure | This German-born landscape architect moved to Vancouver in 1953 after becoming one of the first women to receive a diploma from the Harvard School of Design. Partnering with Moshe Safdie Architects and Arthur Erickson Architects, among many others, Oberlander has worked on such projects as the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Public Library, Robson Square/Provincial Courthouse Complex, VanDusen Botanical Garden, and the UBC Museum of Anthropology, where her landscape design paid homage to First Nations settlements in the area through the use of indigenous plants.
