Hogan’s Alley | Historic site | Until recently, not only had it been virtually forgotten that Vancouver once had a thriving black community, but also that most of it had been forcibly demolished by the city. Hogan’s Alley, as the neighbourhood was called, was levelled in 1970 to make room for a freeway that was never built (the Georgia Viaduct is all that remains of the effort).
