Beer Island | Place | Officially called Habitat Island, Beer Island is a lovely place that is not at all an island (much like Granville Island and other “false” things in False Creek). It was created as part of the South False Creek Olympic Village and is connected to the shore by an isthmus (yay, we got to write the word “isthmus”!). Although the official description says “boulders and logs commonly found along the coastlines in this region of British Columbia provide a home for plants, small animals, insects, crabs, starfish, barnacles and other creatures,” the truth of it is that these logs and boulders are more commonly populated by beer drinkers.
Usage | “I just got a growler from Brassneck. Let’s go drink it on Beer Island…”
