Seen In Vancouver #315: Gastown’s “Old Faithful” Plays Host To A Farmer’s Market

Gastown’s Old Faithful held their second in-shop farmers market this past Sunday and it was the shit. Fresh fruits and veggies can be quite a challenge in Gastown, so kudos to the OF crew for doing their part to prevent scurvy in one of the cooler neighbourhood’s in the city (it would be a great shame to lose all that creative energy to a Vitamin C deficiency). Not only was there fresh local produce on offer, but there were treats as well, like beautiful lemon curd tarts, oatmeal cookies and Save On Meats’ chocolate potato loaf. Scout picked up some Moonstruck Organic feta cheese, dried cherries from Picker Shack, some gorgeous green beans from Lisa’s garden, some fresh bread and a jar of lemonade from Nelson the Seagull. Don’t miss the next market (no word on a date yet, so keep updated via the Old Faithful Facebook page) but it will have a Fall harvest theme and there are rumblings of a possible pie-making contest.

    1. Unfortunately I missed the last one, but I’ll definitely have to come out to this one. They had a farmer’s market on Carrell a couple of years ago, but they stopped for some reason. While I’d dig the old one coming back, I’m definitely grateful that somebody is being proactive here. We need more farmers markets.
