Street festival season is now in full swing, which means that Khatsahlano is around the corner. The Kits neighbourhood’s main summer event is happening on Saturday, July 8th which gives you exactly one week of recovery from Canada Day celebrations and time for preparation. You’ll need it because this year’s festival takes over ten blocks – from Burrard to MacDonald – for a whopping ten hours! Entertainment includes 50 local musical acts selected by neighbourhood institution, Zulu Records, ranging from the seminal Vancouver punk band D.O.A. to the more obscure electronic duo Minimal Violence. Louise Burns (interview), ACTORS, V.Vecker Ensemble and Dopey’s Robe are just a few more names filling up the deep roster of musical genres. Bonuses: patios, good food (a cone from Rain or Shine is a must) and beer gardens to keep up your energy! Pro tip: if you’re heading to the festival from downtown, take your bike over the beautifully renovated and bicycle-friendly Burrard Bridge, because parking will be especially gnarly.

Sat, July 8th | 11-9pm | W. 4th Ave from Burrard to MacDonald | Free | DETAILS
