The Meatball Throwdown returns to The American this Saturday, November 15th, for its fourth year running. Consider Comfort Food Season officially in play!

This year, This Sandwich, That Beer is bringing together nine Vancouver chefs to step into the ring with their best meatball sandwiches, each paired with a local craft brewery. Expect a line-up that includes:

Say Hey Café & Deli X 33 Acres Brewing Co.
Juke Fried Chicken X Bridge Brewing Co.
Nonna’s Cucina X Luppolo Brewing Co.
Mortadella X Four Winds Brewing Co.
Vennie’s Sub Shop X Slow Hand Beer Company
Top Rope Birria X Strange Fellows Brewing
Meat & Bread X Field House Brewing Co.
Team Cinnamon & Oak X R&B Brewing Co.
DownLow Chicken X Superflux Beer Company

The event runs in three heats, with guests tasting their way through every pairing before voting for Best Beer, Best Sandwich, and Best Pairing. There’ll also be raffle prizes, good music, and plenty of friendly chaos.

Doors open at 11:30am, with the first heat starting at 12:15pm. Things wrap up by 4pm, when the bar opens for regular service. Get your ticket (~$70) to fill up and vote on on all the meatball sandwich and beer pairings here.
