Hanai Returns for a One-Day Pop-Up at Dachi This Sunday

This Sunday, May 25th, Chef Tess Bevernage (of Hānai) is coming together with the Dachi team for a one-day pop-up to raise funds for victims and families impacted by the recent Lapu Lapu Festival tragedy.

From 11am to 2pm, you’ll be able to grab take-out-only treats – like their iconic fried ube mochi, spam musubi, and POG juice — with 100% of profits going to United Way BC’s Kapwa Strong Fund. It’s a simple way to show up, give back, and stand with the Filipino community that has given so much to Vancouver’s food culture.

Chef Bevernage — still very much missed since fire forced Hānai to close in August of 2023 — has always cooked from a place of care and connection, drawing from her deep roots in Hawai‘i and a growing sense of home here in Vancouver. This pop-up at Dachi (2297 East Hastings Street) is a chance to support a good cause while also reconnecting with Hānai. So gather some friends, arrive early, and be hungry.
