Beginning today (July 2nd), Breeze Bar is continuing to do what they do best (raising a glass), while riding the Canada Day high via another six days of national pride – with an East Coast Canadian twist.
On the menu: a ‘Double Double’ ($17) collab with Pete Marshall of Sur Lie (the local wine and spirits importer), featuring two grams of Acadian caviar from New Brunswick and as many ounces of Lightfoot & Wolfville Brut vintage bubbles from Nova Scotia. Marshall, who conceived the idea to feature these locally produced treats, explains why he felt Breeze was the right place to make it all happen: “I feel that the experience Ryan and Josh offer at Breeze Bar epitomizes the democratization of fine dining. I resonate deeply with the Trashy & Classy vibe, and their approach to hospitality: offering high-quality, even luxurious ingredients, but reimagined and presented in playful ways. It’s fun, it’s affordable, and there’s a soupçon of choose-your-own-adventure—roll through for a quick Double Double on your way somewhere, or settle in for the night and have a feast. It’s probably the most fun I’ve had in a restaurant in ages…” It’s true, Breeze has always had a thing for caviar and good times, so the pairing checks out.
Picture it: sunshine and a seat on Breeze Bar’s cobblestone patio, while people-watching the Gastown parade — all fortified by bubbles and caviar. It’s a snack, a statement, and a toast to the goods Canada’s putting out there right now; it’s also a reminder that Canada can show up with some world class product, and that luxury doesn’t have to be uptight or condescending.
Short story: Hustle down to Breeze now through to the 7th where there’ll be glass pours, magnums (on Thursday the 3rd), and plenty of caviar — but no white tablecloth or ‘stiff upper lip’ vibe. Just good times and nod to the good stuff that Canada brings to the table. Sure, everybody knows that our counrty’s got crude petroleum, auto parts, lumber and natural gas — but it also puts out some pretty sweet luxuries deserving of our attention…that are a heck of a lot more fun to work into your weekend.
