Cool Thing We Want #301: iPhone 4S Dock For Siri With Remote Inspired By Hal 9000

(via LikeCool) “Iris 9000 from ThinkGeek is a retro speakerphone dock for the iPhone 4S. Inspired by the power hungry AI computer HAL 9000 [from “2001 – A Space Odyssey”], using a small, single-button wireless remote control you can activate Siri from across the room, features a built-in speaker and mic, so it will relay what you say to Siri and then amplify Siri’s voice. It will be available in early in April, 2012.” Check out the creepily awesome, Kubrickian  demonstration teaser after the jump…

  1. This is cool.
    Wouldn’t buy it though.
Now, if it was voice activated, and had remote speakers with built in mics, I’d spend way more than their asking price.
With this, you essentially have to carry a remote instead of your phone, which is fine if your issue is needing to keep your phone on a charger whenever you’re at home.
But, if I could activate it with a voice command, or simply have several remote speaker/mic units around my home such as in an intercom system, this would be incredibly cool.
