Check Out What’s In Store for Time Out Market Vancouver’s Opening Roster

As opening day for the highly anticipated Time Out Market Vancouver creeps closer, the first lineup of participating chef-inspired concepts has been announced – and it’s damn good.

Slated to welcome hungry guests through its doors inside Oakridge Park (650 W 41st Avenue) sometime next Spring, when all is said and done, Time Out Market Vancouver will amount to a sprawling 1,000-seat, 50,000 square foot food mecca of sorts, divided into 18 kitchens, plus a trio of bars, dessert and coffee counters, various spaces for hosting events, and a park-facing outdoor patio area. Think communal seating, loads of live open kitchen action, a hubbub of activity, excellent people watching (as well as being a hot spot for meeting new people), and enough excellent food options to please everyone around the table, and inspire repeat trips out to Oakridge just for the food.

From some of the city’s best fried chicken, seafood and deluxe burgers, to Cambodian, Thai and Vietnamese cuisines, the food to choose from will encompass the spectrum, and so far the bar is set high. Check out the first half-dozen confirmed concepts:

Chef Robert Feenie (Le Crocodile, Lumiere) / Feenie’s
Chef Chanthy Yen (Top Chef Canada 2024 Winner) / Mee Bar
Chef Nguyen Thi Thanh, Michael Tran, Victoria Tran & Benedict Lim / Lunch Lady
Chef Nutcha Phanthoupheng (Baan Lao) / MaKaam
Doug Stephen & Lindsey Mann / DownLow Chicken
Chef Jonah Joffe (Bar Bravo) / Barnacle

Time Out Market stems from the renown Time Out publication, and has been operating topnotch food-and-culture concepts like this since 2014. So far, they have more than a dozen locations across the world, from the flagship Lisbon location, to spots in the US (New York, Boston, Chicago) and more far-flung areas of the world like Porto, Osaka, Cape Town and Dubai. The Vancouver location has the distinction of being the first one in Western Canada (the only other Canadian Time Out Market is in downtown Montreal).
