The Dishes asks Vancouverites to walk us through a map of their ideal day and night on the town. We’re talking breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night cocktails. Tax and tip included.
For our latest edition of The Dishes we ask Marcelo Ramirez, the hard-working co-owner of La Taqueria, to take us on personal culinary tour of Vancouver…
Good morning! What’s for breakfast/brunch?
For breakfast I typically have something light at home, green tea from Treasure Green Tea Company and a smoothie. However, If I were to go out for brunch, especially on the weekends, I would go to Cindy’s Palace for amazing dim sum. It is a hidden gem in East Van.
Where should we meet for coffee/tea?
Nemesis on Hastings. They have good pastries and a solid coffee program.
Now we’re hungry again. What’s for lunch?
My go-to spot is La Taqueria, where the tacos are always good and right below the office. I also enjoy going for lunch at Fable Diner; their duck pancake and rosti are both very good.
Who has you figured out at Happy Hour?
Well, I am normally working during happy hour. I like a good cold beer from 33 Acres to decompress; If I am around home I usually go to Boxcar.
What’s for dinner?
I live in Chinatown, so Kissa Tanto is always a good option. Also Phnom Penh for hot & sour soup and spare ribs.
What’s for dessert?
Another cocktail at Bao Bei and sometimes a slice of apple pie with vanilla ice cream from The Pie Hole in East Van.
Where are you taking us for late night cocktails?
Somewhere in the neighbourhood. Let’s go to The Keefer Bar or Campagnolo Upstairs.
Hey Scout – Is podcast a typo? Cheers
It sure is. Thanks for the catch.
