Taser

Taser | Phenomenon | Stun gun. It’s not a word that’s unique to Vancouver, but we cringe whenever we hear it, especially after RCMP officers “tased” Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski five times – resulting in his death – at the Vancouver airport in 2007. The tragedy was filmed by Paul Pritchard, whose damning video was subsequently stolen by the RCMP (see above – viewer discretion advised). Believe it or not, someone thought it was OK to name a food truck after the weapon.

Usage: “It’s kinda weird how some people still refer to the Taser as a ‘non-lethal’ weapon…”
