TEA & TWO SLICES: On Donating Selfishly At Xmas And Don Cherry In The Deep Blue Sea

by Sean Orr | The Blob: Vancouver’s homeless population shifting. Those shifty little fuckers!

Tweet of the Day c/o Canadian Cynic: “FLASH! Canada’s wingnuts pause briefly from worshipping every single thing Stephen Harper does to mock personality cult of Kim Jong-Il”.

Speaking of cynics, Burnham tweets: “It’s #xmas so make sure you get your picture taken (or tweet about) donating something to the #dtes so you can forget about the poor”. You mean like this?

Ego vs Id: Growing Pains: When Hate and Exclusion Occupy. That’s harsh, eh Harsha? Also, for someone who is a Professor of Dialectics, this sure is dichotomous, not to mention a complete ad hominem. It also ignores this: Anti-Harassment Statement by Members of Occupy Vancouver. I suppose the problem with people in popular movements is that there are people in them.

Still trying: NPA councillor “disappointed” over $1-million price tag for Occupy Vancouver. Like, how much would it have cost us to pull a UC Davis or Oakland? Instead, measured restraint and patience, such as shown in the Stanley Cup Riot, are not virtues but rather liabilities?

Review: Mayor Gregor Robertson deejays at Biltmore Cabaret. And of course some asshole has to pipe in how he should be working on a Saturday night from 11pm-1am. Derp.

Time to privatize it: Top Mountie delivers candid, scathing view of force at the brink. That’s nothing to laugh about. But this is: B.C. Mounties seek brawling Santas.

Children’s entertainer Raffi wants you to mute Don Cherry. Little known fact: Baby Beluga is actually about Don Cherry.

  1. best of the season to you Sean. you have entertained me with your views, look forward to 2012. do you really have a google alert for Harsha Walla?

  2. Thanks for the links as always – it’s interesting to read about others’ experiences of exclusion and bullying in the Occupy Vancouver community. I went to my first Occupy event last night at W2 – have been feeling conflicted about the local protests/movement, so not really involved despite being pretty aligned with the overarching ideals.

On the way out, a man was reminding people of the general assembly meeting later this week. His friend standing next to him then said loudly in reference to my partner and I: “They don’t care. They weren’t at the occupation. They’re just here to see movies.” I don’t know who this man was, but he certainly did not want to welcome us into the group or the cause. Apparently, though not having any idea who we were or what we’ve done to fight the good fight, we weren’t accepted there.

It’s really sad, and certainly doesn’t make me want to have anything to do with what’s going on here.

  3. plain speak, harsha is harsh.call it like u see it mr.orr
no need for the punch pulling.
oh yeah merry xmas for the down trodden and how did scout miss the tim’s that dropped overnight in the hood like an occupy manifesto
