West End vs West Side vs West Van | Phenomenon | One odd facet of Vancouver life is that so few people are really from here (First Nations notwithstanding). One manifestation of this characteristic is the confusion between the West End, the West Side, and West Van. The West End is the western edge of the downtown peninsula, the West Side is Fairview, Kits, Shaugnessy, Dunbar, Point Grey et al, and West Van is it’s own municipality on the North Shore. Got it?
