by Sean Orr | BC gets first raise to minimum wage in a decade. “The cabinet approved a rise to $8.75 an hour on May 1, to $9.50 on Nov. 1, and to $10.25 on May 1, 2012”. So, in two years we’ll be caught up to the rest of Canada, at which time the rest of Canada will have already raised their minimum wage again. That is unless you’re a server in a restaurant, your pay will only rise to $9. Ha ha! Stupid servers…

    In 13.5 months (not two years), the province will have the highest minimum wage in Canada. You can play the guessing game as to whether other provinces will decide to raise their minimum wage – but I hardly think you are an authority on labour economics.

    The alcohol servers wage is intended to help restaurants preserve their margins – the very same restaurants you have defended regarding the HST and the impaired driving initiatives.
