Abbotsford on alert as sexual sadist Donald Bakker moves into community. “It’s the unsupported offender that is most likely to reoffend, so you want him to settle in a community where he has some kind of support network.” Good to know The Province is doing their part to make him feel more comfortable.
Also from The Province, the winner takes first place: Excellence is golden at the Olympic Games. “Put it this way: in a world of ersatz, the Olympics are authenticity. In a world of mediocrity, the Olympics are superiority”. This coming straight from the world of ersatz and mediocrity.
But thanks to Lani Russwurm, there’s a comment finally worth reading on the paper’s website regarding a drug bust at the Balmoral Hotel:
“I used to live and work at the Balmoral Hotel last year and if the people knew what kind of activity goes on there they would be outraged. The Manager makes thousands a month in kickbacks for ensuring the cameras required by the police aren’t working for the room that sells crack and heroin 24/7. The relationship between the police and the management is too friendly in the wrong way. They rip off thousands from the welfare office from cheques for people who are in jail or left the province and don’t even know they are being sent there. The city inspector allows them to rent rooms that no human should be living in. The people living there know to keep their mouth shut or you will be beat or worse. Even when an honest cop tried to bust someone the manager calls the room the minute they leave the office. I’ve never understood how one person could be allowed to operate the place like that for so long???”
Non-issue: Here are the real reasons why Gregor Robertson and Christy Clark won’t march in the Pride parade. Um, because they’re busy?
Messy, eh? Messier the new $6 Million Man after Canucks pay up. The least he could do is centre our second line.
Male trees winning battle of the sexes in Canada. So females make a huge mess and males just make you cry? Sounds about right.

Hey Sean, we’re a restaurant. We like your column. We can feed you.
OK so that’s in writing. Everybody sees that right?
Location might help — Piknik at 1075 Howe. Beside the mermaid coffee place and across from the fancy hotel.
