TEA & TWO SLICES: On Blessed Lunches And Feeling Morally Superior To Americans

by Sean Orr | The Noble Lie: B.C. Premier touts Bible as guiding her decisions. Which isn’t a political power-play at all to win back conservative voters.

God told her to eat at Lift: Premier Clark’s spending spree. Now we know what she hides in those cheeks.

Ersatz crime: B.C. man charged for Facebook threat to copy Colorado shootings. I guess he couldn’t find any glocks at the corner store. No, but seriously – this is disgusting.

And yet still we gloat: American police officer writes letter to editor about lack of handguns in Canada. I noticed you guys don’t have a fencing team. Well, I’m gonna try my hardest to start one up for you guys…

And unlike in America, religion and politics do mix in Canada. I mean, it’s not like we ever had our very own Ku Klux Klan here or anything.

Recent storm was a once-in-decade event. Isn’t that what they said about the Stanley Park windstorm? Without being alarmist, I’d really like to know if this is related to climate change. Are we to expect more storms in the future? What role does photochemical smog play? I could barely see the mountains that day.

Simon Whitfield’s triathlon tragedy. That’s not tragic. The guy in the wheelchair rolling around with a huge green styrofoam piece of toast around his head that says “homeless” is tragic.

Gentrification= better food: Fancy restaurant hosts picnic in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Yeah? I’m lining up as we speak. Seriously, I think I’m getting scurvy.

Sean Orr’s Potemkin City. I just want to clarify something about this WE story: although Gastown was an invention, it was necessary to stop a higher grade of gentrification in the form of a freeway project called Project 200. I wouldn’t want Gastown to be any other way. I walk out my door and see thousands of brightly clad tourists, turn the corner and there is a modelling agency with the most gorgeous women just hanging around, turn left and I’m at The Cambie, turn again and walk up Abbott to find cracktown. I love it.

Bonus: Winnie Cooper goes to Bass Coast. Supplementary video shot from a tricopter.

skin deep romance from the PBR pulpit, hipsters think they’re immune, but they are absolutely part of the one in five that gets skin cancer! It’s a myth, and myths are meant to be debunked!
