Tea & Two Slices: Cops Pushing Cripples And The Christian Right

by Sean Orr | Video shows VPD officer pushing over disabled woman. I don’t see what the problem is. I do this all the time when I see crippled people. They need to be reminded of their disability so they don’t get any delusions of grandeur. It’s a service, really. Besides, I think she was also poor, which is gross! Even the Province is outraged: Camera caught arrogance, lack of accountability. Although, according to one commenter, one needs to be a cop walking the beat in the DTES in order to have an opinion, which is unfortunate because that pretty much makes all journalism redundant. Just ask the cop who passed out on your couch by accident. It’s a tough job.

BC Flirts with Direct Democracy. Its just too bad the impetus had to come from something as prosaic as taxes.

Meanwhile, Ottawa moves in the complete opposite direction with a census controversy.

Inside the Christian Right’s Ottawa Finishing School, where they conveniently ignore some parts of science while embracing others, and where they conveniently ignore massive sections of the bible, while embracing others. I suppose, then, that it’s no wonder that ideology, not reality, drives Tories’ AIDS policy.

Meanwhile, a $20 kit can make you “Gay for a Day” for Vancouver Pride. Because its fun to reduce centuries of struggle for human rights down to a rainbow flag and pink t-shirt.
