(via) Our favourite thing to say around the office all morning has been “Yackandanda”, which is where this beautiful house in Australia is located. Designed for a family of three by Melbourne studio Archier, the so-called “Sawmill House” (on account of the property’s previous incarnation) is anchored by 270 blocks of discarded concrete weighing one tonne each. To soften the rough material, the Spartan, open plan interior is clad in a mix of pivoting glass, brass, and timber. Dig the transitions between the indoors and out — especially the slat-screened veranda and the private bedroom courtyard. It must be magic at first light and last!
