Trailer Out For ‘Loving Vincent’ Film Made With 62,450 Oil Paintings

The full trailer for Loving Vincent is out. The feature length film from Poland’s BreakThru Films and UK’s Trademark Films details the life of painter Vincent Van Gogh using a painstaking animation technique. To tell the story, 115 painters riffed on 94 original Van Gogh works to create an astonishing 62,450 individual oil paintings. Each scene was shot live with real actors first (directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman), and then each shot was recreated with paintings, frame-by-frame. Unsurprisingly, the whole thing has been six years in the making.
