(hat tip: Robyn Yager) You know how your grandmother(s) have recipes that are entirely their own and they’ve been making them since before you were born so they’re dialed in like nobody’s business? Yeah, for us it was Yorkshire pudding, gravy, and a magical snack called “wiener rolls” (white bread, hot dog and cheese whiz roll-ups sliced an inch thick and baked until golden brown). Well, Italian photographer Gabriele Galimbertis recognized that this was a universal and delicious fact of life, so he went on an adventure to document the cuisines of grandmothers from around the world. So sayeth Demilked: “His Delicatessen With Love photo series portray grandmothers from 58 different countries, each posing right before they start cooking and then presenting their signature dish in the end. His own grandma and a dish of her raviolis was what gave Gabriele the idea for the project.” Mmm, Honduran iguana! Cool beans. Full photo series here.
