This mesmerizing short documentary from NPR follows the path of totality during the Great American Eclipse on August 21st, 2017, focusing not on the science of it but rather the impact it had on those who stopped what they were doing and watched “the majestic choreography of orbital mechanics”.

One thing I learned from the experience (I was in Victoria) was that 90% coverage doesn’t mean a damn thing. If you knew this was coming long in advance and thought 90% was good enough, you might feel – like I do – that you fucked up. We watched the pitch go by without swinging.
