Is it retroactive? Vancouver council approves ‘bold, ambitious’ 10-year housing strategy. This is a really good start. Too bad it’s 10 years too late. I wonder why it’s coming out just now….
“The housing strategy vote comes a little less than a year before the city’s next municipal election, in which housing is expected to be the dominant issue”.
Ah, right. Makes sense.
“After Swanson’s presentation, Postmedia News asked her how it felt for a social justice radical who spent decades battling the political establishment to see one of her own ideas actually included in the city’s new strategy. She replied: “It’ll feel good if they actually implement it.”

Remember, dear readers, that as much as this seems so blatantly obvious to every Vancouverite – that Vision has pandered to developers and supplyists and utterly failed on the housing file – there are still some troglodytes, like the two NPA members, who voted against it.
Also these people: City versus protesters at Marpole modular-housing site. Ugh, “our voices matter” is cringingly close to “all lives matter” in its complete disregard for systemic oppression and privilege. What they’re really saying is “Our voices matter more than the people whose voices have been stripped by decades of neglect”. It’s made worse by them fear-mongering and equating homelessness as a danger to their children. Seriously, how does our so-called “elite” survive being so frightened and moronic?

Well, not entirely: B.C. releases ‘first decisions’ on recreational pot sales. “The provincial Liquor Distribution Branch will handle wholesale distribution”. Hey, all the union people that read my column — this is good, right? And hey, all the wine people that read my column — this is terrible, right?

Always love your stuff Sean! Also got to learn what “troglodyte” means. Thought it might have something to do with Trogdor….I was wrong.
