LOOKCITY: On Vincent Park, Local Looks, And Playing Dress Up For The Olympics

by Jenny Bachynski | What colour are you?

Check out Red Flag Designs, an amazing local company that takes salvaged and re-purposed sails to create their products. Each piece is designed and crafted with care in Vancouver.

Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama are teaming up for a pop-art collaboration.

Love watches as much as you dig helping out the environment? Check out WeWood – an awesome California-based company that specializes in watches made from scrap wood. The Date Beige would make a great gift.

“Back to school” (or back to the office) is approaching faster than any of us want. The upside is we have a good excuse to shop for new Fall bags. An Ashley Watson FinchErin Templeton Card Case, Ora Billy Backpack, or anything by Herschel will do just fine.

What colour are you?

Want to show off your Canadian pride during the Olympics but don’t want to be plastered head-to-toe in maple leaves? Try a subtle Hudson’s Bay stripe-inspired outfit.

Abercrombie & Fitch never cease to amaze with their marketing decisions.

Some of the finest leather goods in town come from local designer Ken Diamond. His moccasinsbelts and other accessories are all handmade and of the highest quality.

Check out some local looks after the jump…

MEANWHILE, ON THE STREET THIS WEEK…

Blaine from Gastown | Dressed down white button up. Love the red shoes.

Econ from the Fraserhood | Summer preppy

Ivy from Gastown | Red lips and black hair are a good combo.

Sophie and Umair from Hastings | Subtle neutrals

Valerie from Gastown | Beautiful ombre hair

  1. Don’t encourage them! just kidding… but seriously, every time I see the street fashion here I can’t help but shake my head. At least of the quarter of the people I see are dressed just awfully. Walking cliches that don’t really get it. I guess that’s very Vancouver in a way though.

  2. How come you always photo people in Gastown? Maybe it’s time to move to another area to shoot, maybe a hipster free zone.
