(via) We’re circling back to this calming but transfixing short film by Teun van der Zalm (with music from Lee Rosevere) that imagines the beautiful dust, cloud and gas factories that create stars. It was published over a year ago with the following fitting quote from Carl Sagan’s Cosmos:

“A cloud that veils one of nature’s secret places. This is a stellar nursery, a place where stars are born. They condense by gravity from gas and dust until their temperatures become so high that they begin to shine. Such clouds mark the births of stars as others bear witness to their deaths.”

That none of the footage is actually real doesn’t bother us in the least. Because wow.
