Published on Main and Baan Lao Land on the Inaugural North America’s 50 Best List

The first-ever North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list dropped last night in Las Vegas, and Vancouver came out strong.

Published on Main landed at No. 28, a milestone for chef Gus Stieffenhofer-Brandson and his crew as they head into year six. Even higher up on the list Baan Lao Fine Thai Cuisine came in at No. 12 overall, taking the title of Best Restaurant in Western Canada.

Overall, Canada made a serious impact on the list: Mon Lapin in Montreal was named No. 2, and Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Ontario followed close behind at No. 3. Altogether, 11 Canadian restaurants made the cut, reflecting the depth of talent from Montreal and Toronto through to Vancouver and Richmond — a strong showing worth celebrating.

For Published on Main, the recognition celebrates their commitment to local farms, foragers, and producers—almost everything on the plate is sourced nearby. For Baan Lao, the recognition underlines that Richmond’s dining scene continues to grow in stature and deserves to be seen in its own right. Put together, it’s a reminder of just how much range Canada brings to the table. See the full list below.
