BC Hydro’s Annual Candlelight Conservation Dinner All Set For October 24

CCC-INSIDE

On Thursday, October 24th, BC Hydro Power Smart will be presenting its most delicious initiative, the 5th annual Candlelight Conservation Dinner. This year, 76 restaurants across 8 regions with 10 community partners will transform their dining rooms into romantic havens by hosting supper service by low light or candlelight to raise awareness about energy conservation across the province.

The night demonstrates a simple way that we can be smart with our energy usage by not only showing those hosting the suppers that ambiance thrives without electricity, but also reminding diners that they can achieve the same magical atmospherics at home. There’s nothing quite like a great supper – in or out – by candlelight!

Each participating restaurant will be extending an exclusive discount, free dessert, or special offer on the evening. For example, Diva at the Met is offering 15% off its menu items, Gramercy Grill is offering 2-for-1 entrées, The Pear Tree is plating a special set piece tasting menu, and so on. You can see the full list of participating Vancouver restaurants and their special offers here, but it should be remembered that the Candlelight Conservation Dinner is a province-wide initiative. There are also participating restaurants and community partners in Vancouver, Victoria, Vancouver’s Island’s West Shore communities, Prince George, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Powell River, and Quesnel.

We hope to see you out and about on the 24th, when we’ll be keeping track of developments and sharing your photos of candlelit rooms on Twitter with the hashtag #pscandlelight. Visit powersmart.ca/candlelight to find out more.
