Clocks roll back this weekend at 2am on Sunday morning (November 2nd) – which means that daylight hours are about to get even shorter. Instead of staring into the dark and wondering how it’s only 5pm (already?!), make a plan.
November still has some good tricks — you just have to bring your own light into the equation…Small flames and small rituals – that’s how you remind November who’s in charge.

Step into Samhain rituals
Craft a mullhein torch (aka a “hag torch” or “witch’s torch”) while learning about Samhain — the turn toward winter, the thinning of the veil, and the traditions that honour ancestors and release the old. Hosted by at Raven’s Veil collective and boutique and led by herbalist, medicine maker, ritualist and hermetic practitioner Lux, this two-hour-long evening of Samhain Mullien Torch Marking ($90) is part workshop and part ritual. Refreshments and supplies included, along with your own hand-crafted torch, spells, and herbal offerings to take home. DETAILS
Stock up on beeswax essentials
Wicks and Wax has everything you need for DIY candle nights — moulds, dyes, scents, honeycomb sheets — and the know-how that comes with being “in the beeswax business since 1959.” The Soap Dispensary on Main Street is also a good option for filling up on the essentials for at-home candle-making, if a trip to Burnaby isn’t in the cards for you. Quick candle grab
