by Michelle Sproule | One of our favourite places on the planet is the beautiful Similkameen Valley. We cruise through it on our way to and from the South Okanagan, always stopping to pick up a bottle of wine or three. But we very rarely spend the night. Last weekend totally changed the way we’ll plan future trips, as Orofino Winery just opened a pair of bright, spacious guest suites that overlook their stunning vineyards. We just so happened to be in town judging the Similkameen BBQ King competition at the old Grist Mill, and gladly accepted an invitation to test drive the new digs. Below is the official word, plus a gallery of photos I took during our stay.
OROFINO WINERY OPENS 2 LUXURY VINEYARD SUITES
John and Virginia Weber, owners of Orofino Winery in the stunning Similkameen Valley, have just completed 2 brand new luxury vacation rental suites next to the winery. The 1000 square foot lofts are well equipped with all of the amenities for a memorable stay in wine country including full gourmet kitchens . The one bedroom and the 2 bedroom suites are both situated above their new storage facility and offer unbeatable views of the winery’s vineyards, neighbouring orchards and beautiful mountains of the Similkameen Valley. “We want to encourage visitors to the valley to slow down and spend some time to find out what is so special about the Similkameen. To spend more than a few hours visiting our wineries and fruit stands.” says owner Virginia Weber. “ We will provide our guests an insider’s guide on where to swim, fish, hike or bike, where to buy the best local food and wines and how best to take advantage of all what the Similkameen has to offer.” Of course, guests might find what they are after just lounging around on the deck with a glass of wine.
