The Goods from Wickaninnish Inn
Tofino, BC | Wickaninnish Inn, renowned for winter storm watching, offers a magical West Coast holiday season with an array of festive events, exclusive holiday packages, and immersive local experiences. At Wickaninnish Inn, the holiday season is more than just a time of celebration; it’s a moment to immerse oneself in nature, reconnect, and experience a sense of wonder and peace.
Charles McDiarmid, Maître de Maison of the Wickaninnish Inn remarks, “Growing up in Tofino, the holiday season was always a time of wonder for me and my younger brothers—there’s something magical about celebrating in the midst of the stormy weather set between the open ocean and green temperate rain forest that makes this place so special. The wild Pacific storms, crashing waves, and misty mornings are all part of the unique charm that makes Tofino feel like home during the holidays. At the Wickaninnish Inn, we embrace that spirit, offering guests the warmth and coziness of the season while they experience the raw beauty of nature outside. We strive to create an atmosphere that feels both festive and intimate. Our team works passionately to ensure every detail enhances the guest experience, from special seasonal menus to thoughtful décor, making this a cherished time for all who visit.”
Whether one is seeking a cozy retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life, or a festive escape filled with local charm, the Inn and Tofino are the perfect place to experience the magic of the season.
Festive offerings include:
Jingle into Christmas – December 6, 2024
A Tofino tradition, the annual Jingle into Christmas celebration on December 6, 2024, is a festive evening filled with local vendors staying open late, live music, holiday cheer, and community spirit. This event definitely provides an opportunity to select something hand crafted from a local artisan or artist among many we also feature here at the Inn. The Wickaninnish Inn is proud to participate in this local tradition, offering special treats and holiday warmth to visitors.
Holiday Light Tour and Fundraiser – December 11, 2024, at Wickaninnish Inn
At the heart of the Wickaninnish Inn seasonal celebrations is the Holiday Light Tour, part of the Inn’s ongoing sustainability journey. On December 11, 2024, from 6pm-8pm, the Inn welcomes the coastal community and visitors to the area for holiday cheer and a chance to see the Inn transformed into a West Coast winter wonderland. The Wickaninnish Inn team has been decorating for the holidays since opening in 1996, continually enhancing the elaborate indoor and outdoor decorations with the guidance of Tofino local and Wickaninnish Inn Ambassador, Camilla Thorogood. The holiday décor is thoughtfully woven through the natural surroundings to add sparkle but also aligns with the Inn’s commitment to sustainable practices, using energy-efficient lights powered by renewable energy and natural décor with cedar boughs, hand-made ornaments designed from seashells found on beaches adjacent to the Inn. The Holiday Lights Tour is a fundraiser for Fish And Loaves Tofino and Food Bank on the Edge. Guests can donate non-perishable goods or cash donations to be given to the local food bank, and the Inn will match cash donations up to a value of $2000.
Advent Calendar at Driftwood Café at Wickaninnish Inn
Throughout December, the Driftwood Café will feature an interactive Advent Calendar, where guests of the Café have a chance to win a gift from the Wickaninnish Inn. Starting December 1 and running through December 24, at any random time, the Driftwood Café team will open one of the handmade cedar boxes decorating the Café and a lucky winner (anyone at the Driftwood Café during the draw is eligible to win) will take home the amazing gift hidden inside.
The second annual Tofino Hot Cocoa Trail will take place from December 1st – 31st. This is a hot chocolate tasting trail throughout Tofino where businesses offer a twist on a seasonal classic enhancing the coastal winter experience.
