Chefs and bartenders have been rocking nice-looking aprons for a while now, but they’ve tended to favour fashion rather then form. How many times do you see a chef or bartender on TV or at an event and think… “Nice apron, bet you’d never get it dirty during service…”
William Fosdick and his wife Jill have created a brand that is not only runway worthy, but also tough enough to handle the day to day slaughter of the pass or behind the stick (or barbershop, tattoo studio, etc.). They’ve also started an outerwear collection.
The East Van company is still young, but they’re getting lots of attention, having recently been mentioned in The New York Times and designed aprons for big name kitchen brigades and superstar chefs like Jamie Oliver.
The range of options is massive. Customers can pimp everything from colour, lining, number of pockets, rivets — the list goes on. My favourite parts are the rag loop up front, the iPhone pocket (fits a 6s), wine crank slot, and the secret “stash your tips” pocket. Most styles run from between $125-$200, give or take, and they ship worldwide.
