Vancouver, BC | In support of the upcoming Aprons for Gloves “Restaurant Rumble,” Lucky’s Doughnuts has created a special feature doughnut, the Fruit PUNCH. The doughnut is a boxing glove-shaped, yeast-raised Bismarck filled with mango/passion fruit curd, and finished with a red raspberry glaze. As of today, the Fruit Punch is available at both the Main Street location and the new Kitsilano café for $3.50, with partial proceeds going towards the fundraising goals of our in-house Restaurant Rumble contender, doughnut guy Colter Jones. Colter must raise a minimum of $2,000 to be eligible to enter the ring during the Restaurant Rumble event on July 24.

We’re also pleased to announce that 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters is an official sponsor of the 2013 Restaurant Rumble, an annual event raising money for the Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association. In its second year now, the Restaurant Rumble is a boxing event that takes contenders from Vancouver’s hospitality industry through three months of training before pitting them against each other in the ring. The association raises money for the Eastside Boxing Club which offers boxing and mentorship programs for underprivileged youth and battered women. Proceeds from last year’s event went towards buying new equipment for the club and covering the costs of moving to a new location after their original gym on the Downtown Eastside closed.
