The GOODS from The Waldorf Hotel

Vancouver, BC | Due to a resolved scheduling conflict and the stars being in perfect alignment, participants at the Waldorf Hotel’s season finale East Van Wine Academy this Wednesday, July 13th will get a little more bang for their buck, as all are invited to stick around immediately after the event when the World Famous Tiki Bar hosts Exotica Vintage Burlesque with DJ Chaz Royal.

Off the bat, at 7:00 pm “East Van Wine Academy: Down Under!” will tour you through the many regions of Australia and cover the many reasons why the country is much more than Yellow Tail, “critter wines” and big, oaky Shiraz ‘fruit-bombs’. From cool-climate (yes, really!) Rieslings to aged Semillons from Western Australia, you’ll gain an appreciation for the diversity and complexity of the country’s vast array of wines and wine styles. Following the land of Oz, the focus will be New Zealand where, yes, Sauvignon Blanc will be covered – along with enchanting Syrahs and Rieslings from Hawkes Bay to Central Otago.

As always, you’ll learn a good chunk of wine basics, shopping tips and food-pairing ideas as well!
The East Van Wine Academy Wine Course is a great format for both restaurant and wine industry professionals to brush up on their knowledge, and casual wine enthusiasts to gain a better understanding of various aspects of the wine world that will serve to enhance their enjoyment of what’s in the glass.

Wine Course guests will receive a collectible Waldorf Wine ‘Zine as a keepsake reminder of everything they’ve just learned, access to the “After School” party in the Waldorf Hotel’s World Famous Tiki Bar and two tasting vouchers to get their sampling started.

The “After School” party offers a fantastic opportunity to put new found knowledge to use, with numerous wines on offer, along with canapés, visuals and vinyl selected by resident DJs. “After School” is also a casual, fun atmosphere for those who want to skip school but are still interested in enjoying the wine-oriented surroundings, receiving the Waldorf Wine ‘Zine and partaking in the more casual aspect of the event. Tickets for the East Van Wine Academy are $35, and for those who want to skip class and head to the “After School” event, tickets are $10.

Immediately following the After School party, Exotica Vintage Burlesque begins, as your BEST WEDNESDAY EVER continues! Tickets and more information can be found at WaldorfHotel.com.

About The Waldorf

After 63 years in business, East Vancouver’s Famous Waldorf Hotel has been reimagined as a creative compound where contemporary art, music, food and culture convene under one roof. Special events, unique spaces, great food and hospitality. There’s always something happening at The Waldorf.

Press

“While offering a nod to the hotel’s Polynesian lineage, the Waldorf redux has mercifully sidestepped kitsch to emerge as a landmark destination for creative travelers. A haven for artists, musicians and cultural thrill-seekers, the Waldorf offers an experience not easily forgotten, one that makes you feels as though you’re vacationing in New York rather than the heart of Vancouver’s east side.” – Globe and Mail
