The GOODS from The Waldorf Hotel

Vancouver, BC | Hot on the heels of a sold-out French edition of the East Van Wine Academy in April, the Waldorf Hotel and Host Kurtis Kolt now turn their attention to the wonderful world of Italian wine at East Van Wine Academy: Italy, Tuesday May 24th at 7:00 pm

“Commonly referred to as The Vineyard of Europe, Italy has long been renowned for its classic wine styles and regions from Tuscany to Sicily, though many find their wines to be too complex or intimidating” says Kolt, “We’ll de-mystify Italy through basic geography and history, along with an overview of major grapes and wine styles from Barolos and Barbarescos to Dolcettos, Nebbiolos, ‘Super Tuscans’ and more. To round out Italian wine basics, guests will learn how to decipher Italian wine labels, receive food pairing and shopping tips, plus have the opportunity to try many new favourites!”

The East Van Wine Academy Wine Course is a great format for both restaurant and wine industry professionals to brush up on their knowledge, and casual wine enthusiasts to gain a better understanding of various aspects of the wine world that will serve to enhance their enjoyment of what’s in the glass. Get all the details after the jump…

Wine Course guests will receive a collectible Waldorf Wine ‘Zine as a keepsake reminder of everything they’ve just learned, access to the “After School” party in the Waldorf Hotel’s World Famous Tiki Bar and two tasting vouchers to get their sampling started.

The “After School” party offers a fantastic opportunity to put new found knowledge to use as guests are immersed in Italian wine culture with numerous wines on offer, along with canapés, visuals and vinyl selected by resident DJs. “After School” is also a casual, fun atmosphere for those who want to skip school but are still interested in enjoying the wine-oriented surroundings, receiving the Waldorf Wine ‘Zine and partaking in the more casual aspect of the event. Tickets for the East Van Wine Academy are $35, and for those who want to skip class and head to the “After School” event, tickets are $10.

Press

“While offering a nod to the hotel’s Polynesian lineage, the Waldorf redux has mercifully sidestepped kitsch to emerge as a landmark destination for creative travelers. A haven for artists, musicians and cultural thrill-seekers, the Waldorf offers an experience not easily forgotten, one that makes you feels as though you’re vacationing in New York rather than the heart of Vancouver’s east side.” – Globe and Mail
